Calgary FM Blogs > Beesley

Beesley was born and raised in Kamloops, a place famous for fishing, skiing, hot summer nights and turning the city name backwards and calling it a celebration (Spoolmak Days)! Married to Mrs. Beesley, they boast a daughter: Darcy, and a son: Dylan. Beesley’s many interests include music, movies and memorabilia (known to some as “junk collecting”). The hottest job he’s ever had? Working in a copper mine as a ‘smelter rat’ (don’t ask). The coolest? Being the Calgary Flames Public Announcer! Beesley’s first real radio job was at Canadian Armed Forces Base: Baden Baden in West Germany as a volunteer on the all-night shift. Wow! Since then his voice has been a staple of the Calgary airwaves for the past 20 years.

Glen Campbell is back and like his fellow "country-man" Johnny Cash - he's dipped into the world of pop/rock and come out with a contemporary approach to songs from U2, Tom Petty, The Foo Fighters and Green Day? Congratulations to all 800 - that walked or ran in the 1k, 5k or 10k.      It was my second year as the MC / participant and I'm thrilled to have played my part in making it happen.

The route was full of local musicans and music was definately a focus as we ran around the Universtiy of Calgary.

Thanks to our street team that was there handing out 97.7 Calgary FM mugs.

  • Is it the most wonderful time of the year?

    Aug 13 2008 - 12:20pm

Funny how an old song like What a Wonderful Time of the year used to mean Christmas. But before we start dragging out our knotted up bundle of lights let's remember the song took on a whole new meaning 12 years ago.
