Calgary FM Blogs > Allison Brock

Allison has been involved in the radio and music industries for over twenty five years. Some wonder how she could possibly have started at the tender age of five, but who are we to question? Allison’s love of music has always been the driving force in her life and work. After starting out with alternative rock stations in the 70s, she flipped over to the record company side of things in the late 80s. Working with labels like A&M, Sony and Virgin Music, Allison handled marketing for Lenny Kravitz, 54-40 and the Rolling Stones, to name a few. Returning to radio in 2000 as an independent radio producer and host, Allison premiered “Wide Cut Country” on CKUA and “Backroads Country” on HANK FM, Winnipeg in 2007. Allison’s incredible wealth of knowledge and passion for music remain as strong as ever. She claims her young age has not been a deterrent.

OK, it's been a while between blogs again. Time to get back at it.

Bob Dylan is still on his Never-Ending Tour, & is set to have Volume 8 of his official bootleg series released in early October.

If you're a regular Night Moves listener you may have already heard "Dreamin' Of You', a great unreleased track from Bob's "Time Out Of Mind" album.

  • Sometimes buying a CD is just NOT that easy! Plus...JACK BLACK & CAMERON CROWE

    Jun 26 2008 - 10:57am

I was in Lethbridge recently, & thought i’d pick up the new Emmylou Harris disc, “All I Intended To Be”.

A quick trip to HMV just prior to their 6 o’clock closing was fruitless. The clerk told me that they hadn’t had it yet but had some on order.

  • A surprise V Fest request!...or...Flattery will get you.

    Jun 16 2008 - 11:02am

Well, I felt I just had to share this with you all - especially as I just realized that my last blog entry was over two weeks ago - but come on...give a gal a break...it's almost officially SUMMER, & there's other stuff to do!

Anyway, when I checked my email the other day there was a very nice note from this English guy who works for a digital PR company in the UK doing work for the two remaining Canadian Virgin Festivals.

  • Beatles Revamp & more on Night Moves!

    May 28 2008 - 9:27am

Yes…The Beatles on “Night Moves”! Well, at least a classic Beatles track given a whole “new” treatment.

There is so much EXCELLENT roots music out there, with more being released all the time, & it's really great to get emails from listeners asking; "Hey...what was that song you played..."?

Be sure to keep listening to "Night Moves" to hear some of the very best acts in the Roots Music genre. Whether they're old faves or new to your ears, chances are I'll be spinning them on "Night Moves" sooner or later.
