A surprise V Fest request!...or...Flattery will get you.
Well, I felt I just had to share this with you all - especially as I just realized that my last blog entry was over two weeks ago - but come on...give a gal a break...it's almost officially SUMMER, & there's other stuff to do!
Anyway, when I checked my email the other day there was a very nice note from this English guy who works for a digital PR company in the UK doing work for the two remaining Canadian Virgin Festivals.
Having an English husband myself, I not only know how nice they can (sometimes) be, but also how flattering they can be - when they want something. With years of experience in this department behind me I was tempted to hit the delete key before really examining the email too closely.
Turns out that Alistair (a very British name according to my husband) is totally legit & had been suitably impressed upon reading my blogs on this website. Not only can these Brits be very flattering, but I'm almost starting to believe my husband when he tells me that they're smart too.
Alistair's observations & comments give a huge vote of support for the "Quality NOT Quantity" theory. I may not blog often, but when I do people take notice! There may even be a test afterwards folks.
Basically the email was a request for me to be an "exclusive VIP reporter" on a team of bloggers reporting from the about the bands & the event in general. Not only would this have been a blast, but a great opportunity to see the festival from a rather unique perspective.
Unfortunately I had to turn down the offer this time around, but Alistair, if you're still reading my blogs & digging what I do...you have my email address, & we're all hoping that this will just be the first of many Calgary Virgin Festivals to come.
It's a great looking line-up folks! take a look at: http://virginfestival.ca/calgary/
I'll definitely be checking in to see what others blog about as the festival unfolds this coming weekend.

Re: One of your shows the other day
Hi Allison! Just a quick note to tell you how GREAT you sound! I've been listening regularly and I really like the music mix. You have always sounded so casually conversational, and when I grow up I want to sound just like you! Even some of the country's growing on me! Quite enjoyed the Ben Harper you played the other night...might even go out and "buy" the CD!
