Calgary... Big Burt has landed
The Calgary Flames introduced their newest players yesterday including Michael Cammalleri, a talented forward acquired in a draft-day deal with the Los Angeles Kings; Curtis Glencross, who switched sides in the Battle of Alberta by jumping from Edmonton to Calgary; Rene Bourque, an Alberta product who had been with Chicago; and Andre Roy, an enforcer who was part of the Tampa Bay Lightning squad that beat the Flames in the 2004 Stanley Cup final.
But much of the attention was focused on hulking winger Todd Bertuzzi, the former Vancouver Canucks star who was signed as a free agent by Calgary after his contract was bought out by the Anaheim Ducks.
"The past couple of years have been (difficult)," he admitted. "A back injury and then going to Anaheim, the concussion. Every time I took a step forward, I kept (falling) back. I'm going to come out and play hockey here and let my play do the talking. You can only talk for so much. I can sit here and say, 'Oh yeah, I'm going to score 40," but you've got to go out and do it. That's what it comes down to."
