Looks like you'll be able to get a BLT once again in Calgary, instead of just a BL.  Tomato's are back on the menu at fast food joints in our city and accross Canada, thanks to a salmonella scare south of the border. Since April, at least 228 people have gotten sick in 23 states -- thanks to tainted tomatoes.

Researchers say Alberta should hold off on approving more oilsands upgraders near Edmonton.  The Pembina Institute says 9-upgraders are expected to begin operating northeast of the capital in the next 10-years, and they will consume 10-times as much water as the City of Edmonton and spew 45 megatonnes of greenhouses gases -- the same amount that 10-million vehicles produce.

Environmentalists are taking the federal government to court. The group Friends of the Earth will argue this week that the feds are ignoring the Kyoto Protocol Act. The Harper government says it's the previous Liberal government's fault for making the Kyoto targets unattainable.

Same sex couples in California will legally be allowed to get married starting today. Gay marriage becomes legal at 5:01 p-m Pacific time, in keeping with last month's decision by the California Supreme Court.

Think maybe you're in the wrong line of work? A new study finds that no matter how sluggish the economy may be, the biggest bosses are doing O-K. The median pay package for American C-E-O's of companies on the Standard and Poor's 550 index is 8.4-million dollars. Topping the list is the boss at Merrill Lynch who made 83-million last year.
