It is looking as though Calgary public school support staff are inching closer to a full blown strike in the new school year. Their contract talks with the C.B.E. have taken a nasty turn. The support staff union says it does not agree with the board putting its latest contract offer in the newspaper. The union says the ad is misleading, because it makes it look as though wage increase is the problem.

Police arrested a man at Sunridge Mall yesterday afternoon, The 30-year is accused of using sophisticated camera equipment to look up women's skirts.  One of his victims alerted security, and they followed the guy around till police arrived.  They found camera equipment hidden in his backpack. The guy apparently just arrived in Calgary from Great Britain. (well let's send him back)

Alberta's finance minister says the federal Liberal plan for a carbon tax would cripple the province. Iris Evans is reacting to the announcement by Liberal Leader Stephane Dion for a "Green Shift".  But Evans says the plan would shift wealth out of Alberta by penalizing its huge oilsands plants, which are heavy producers of greenhouse gases.

It'll be another scorcher today in Southern California. Half-a-dozen cities set all-time highs yesterday, including the aptly named Thermal, California...where it was 47 degrees.
