Alberta's oilsands development is getting some flack from an unusual source. American mayors have passed a resolution opposing municipal use of gasoline derived from the oilsands. Alberta Energy Minister Mel Knight insists the province is making major strides in reducing oilsands-linked greenhouse gas emissions.
Looks like we will be paying that $5 to park at the zoo. A new parking lot will cost the Calgary Zoo 7-million dollars, and we the taxpayers will cover some of that cost. Officials say the new lot is necessary because zoo patrons have nowhere to park because most of the spaces are taken up by LRT users.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the discovery of a mad cow case in B-C won't impact on Canada's already hard-hit beef industry. It also says there's no risk to public health because no part of the animal entered the human food system. This is the third mad cow case in B-C in the last three years.
