Canada Post is asking the federal government for permission to boost postal rates. The corporation wants to raise the cost of mailing a first-class letter within Canada from 52-cents to 54 effective next January. There would also be a 2-cent increase in each of the following two years.

A 2-year-old boy has been found alive in Sacramento, California nearly a week after his 36-year-old mother died in their home. A Child Protective Services worker found the boy after going to the house to check on the family because the mom suffered from a chronic illness, and could hear the boy crying inside. The mom had been dead for 6-days.
