The driver of a tanker-truck is dead after a firey crash west of Balzac. Police say it looks like a truck tire blew on highway 566, and the driver lost control, crossed the highway and slammed into the ditch. The tanker was carrying diesel and gasoline and it exploded into a giant bll of flames. Officials say most of the spilled gas and deisel that was in the tanker truck, eventually burned in the fire. The drivers name hasn't been released.
More than 200-people had to be evacuated in the Bridgeland area, because of a gas leak. A work crew replacing curbs along 6th Avenue near Meridith Road northeast punctured the line last evening. Atco was called in to shut the line off and repair things, and the evacuees were not allowed back home for about 3-hours.
New fees will soon be slapped on most electronics sold in Ontario as part of a new recycling program. The Environment Minister will sign a regulation today on a new program aimed at increasing the recycling of electronics. Producers and importers will pay the fees and it's unclear what, if anything, consumers will pay. (but you can bet it'll be something).
Relatives of slain child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey say they hope the real killer will be found. New D-N-A evidence has now officially cleared her parents after years of suspicion. John Ramsey found his daughter's body in the basement of the family home in December, 1996. His wife, Patsy, died two years ago of ovarian cancer.
And John Lennon's lyrics for ``Give Peace a Chance'' will be up for grabs today. The handwritten lyrics are included in a rock memorabilia auction at Christie's in London. It's estimated they'll go for about 600-thousand-dollars
