The homicide unit is still investigating a fatal shooting in Chinatown Saturday night. Witnesses say at least 6-shots were fired at a car, and when they arrived, officers found a man dead in the vehicle. The shooting appears to be Calgary's 19th murder of the year. Cops say the man was known to them, but his name hasn't been released yet.
Police were kept busy with yet another shooting last night in the city. A 25-year old man was shot several times at a northeast Martindale home. He's in hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police have brought the gang unit in to help them sort this one out.
Bell Canada is cutting 25-hundred jobs, or 6% of its workforce, as it tries to streamline management and lower costs. The changes include a 30% reduction in executive jobs announced earlier this month. Together, the cuts will help save the telecom giant about 300-million dollars annually.
Canadian troops in southern Afghanistan have killed a young brother and sister after shooting at a car they believed could be carrying a suicide bomber. A Canadian Forces statement says the round was discharged yesterday when the car came within 10 metres of their convoy.
And ``The Dark Knight'' continues to obliterate box office records, hauling in 300-million-bucks in just 10 days. It hauled in another 75-million dollars in its second weekend in theatres, pushing its total to more than 314-million, surpassing the record set in 2006 by ``Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,'' which took 16 days to make 300-million dollars.
