The mother of a Calgary gang member says more violence is on the way. Speaking under the condition of anonymity, the woman says Calgarians should be prepared for more trouble with gangs coming from bigger cities in Canada and the United States. Calgary police agree and say they are preparing for more shootings and more murders. 

A B-C woman is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a 250-pound black bear.The woman was mauled while she was gardening yesterday morning outside her Coquitlam home.The attack went on for about three minutes.Authorities say they were eventually forced to shoot-to-kill the bear.The woman suffered bite wounds to much of her body.

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion plans a high-level meeting with his top strategists next week in Ottawa. Word of that meeting has election rumours swirling once again. Prime Minister Harper issued a challenge to the Opposition last week to either pass government crime, economic and environment bills -- or force an election.

The Olympic torch has been paraded around a leg of the Great Wall of China. Hundreds gathered for the 15-minute run along a popular stretch often visited by tourists. Incidentally, 332 Canadian athletes will be competing at these Games. 

Unfortunately, no Albertans shared in the Lotto 649 jackpot last night.  But, sadly, there were two winning tickets for the $45-million dollar draw.   So, unless you have relatives in Quebec or Northern Ontario, you're out of luck.  If you do, call them today and make sure you're in the good books
